The Fiddler and his Fox

Can you draw fanart for your own work? This is for my story about the Fiddler and the Fox. The two colors of leaves symbolize the two seasons of the story: autumn as Skimmer sets out on his quest, and winter as he reaches the castle.

I did three versions of this picture. The first was a pencil-and-ink sketch that I made while writing the story, to help myself visualize the characters (and to possibly include when I turned the story in). After learning that we could submit a cover image for the stories, I transferred my sketch to a digital canvas to tidy it up and add colors and a background. It became the story thumbnail. Then there came the art contest... so I made a third version. More vibrant colors, lots more leaves, but something went wrong with Skimmer's eyes. The version here is actually the second version; it ended up looking better.
